The fundamental characteristic of Hamd is that it involves the poet's attempt to express the attributes of Allah, the Almighty, in the form of words. Allah, the Creator and Sovereign of the entire universe, possesses countless qualities. He is the First and the Last. He has always existed and will always remain. He is not in need of anyone, while everyone is in need of Him. He has bestowed innumerable blessings upon His worshippers. It is the duty of the devotee to express gratitude for these blessings. The more gratitude one expresses, the more pleased Allah will be. Among Urdu poets, it is hard to find a name that has never composed Hamd. The tradition of Hamdia poetry in Urdu is as old as the language itself. In this language, songs of praise and glorification of Allah have always been sung. Poets have made the blessed essence and exalted attributes of Allah their subject and have expressed them in various forms. This article discusses the analysis of a Hamd written in the form of a sonnet.
