Poetic Diction and linguistic Exprimentation in Ishaq Wardag’s Ghazal Poetry: a review

Abstract

Ishaq Wardag is a distingvished and esteemed poet of modern Urdu ghazal, poetry, renowned for his remarkable contribution to the genre in the twenty first century. He occupies a position of prominence among the poets from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province who have played a pivotal role in revitalizing the traditional Urdu ghazal goi. This article sheds light on the poetic diction and linguistic experimentation in ishaq wardag’s Urdu Ghazal poetry, highlighting how his unique and modern approach has infused a fresh vitality into the traditional genre.  Wardag’s poetic diction, characterized by simplicity, clarity and depth, has raised the bar for Urdu ghazal poetry, while his bold linguistic experiments have expanded the expressive possibilities of Urdu language. By combining traditional and modern expressions, wardag has crafted a distinctive poetic style that is both rooted in tradition and relevant to contemporary concerns. His innovative approadh has not only revitalized the Urdu ghazal tradition but also paved the way for a new generation of poets to explore fresh modes of expression, poetic diction, conduct of urdu ghazal, cementing Wardag’s position as a pioneering figure in modern Urdu ghazal poetry. Through his work, Wardag has not only expanded the expressive possiblitities of the Urdu language but also provided a powerful platform for exploring complexities of human experiences love, loss, fear, terror, pandamic, existence, culture, roots and identity.
