Abstract

The novel serves as a reflection of human life and social realities. While novelists often explore the subtle emotions of love, they also incorporate contemporary turmoil and various tragedies as central themes. Shafaq has rapidly gained recognition in the literary world, establishing himself as a distinguished novelist. His works, such as Kanch Ka Baazigar, Badal, and Kaboos, delve into themes of terror, fear, oppression, and contemporary chaos, making them stand out. Rooted in the stylistic influences of a particular era, his novels address global and contemporary issues with remarkable depth. Politics, the struggles of third-world countries, the tragedy of 9/11, its repercussions, and the underlying motivations behind it form the essence of his storytelling. Shafaq boldly critiques global monopolists, condemning the monstrosities of war, terrorism, exploitation, and colonialism. He also highlights the plight of Muslims in India, exposing political strategies, systemic oppression, and the brutal realities of global colonialism. By intertwining these issues with the discourse surrounding 9/11, he raises profound questions that compel intelligent and conscious readers to reflect deeply. His characters resonate with the modern era, cementing his unique position among contemporary novelists.
