This article examines the political and rhetorical significance of Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s poetry in the Punjab Assembly. Recognized as one of the most influential poets of the twentieth century, Faiz combined romanticism with revolutionary thought, articulating themes of social justice, resistance, and hope. The study explores how members of the Punjab Assembly have employed his verses to enrich parliamentary debates, express public grievances, and highlight issues such as inequality, oppression, and unfulfilled promises of independence. Through selected examples from assembly proceedings, the article demonstrates that Faiz’s poetry functions as a powerful discursive tool, enhancing the emotional appeal and persuasive force of political speeches. It further argues that the continued relevance of his poetry reflects its universal and timeless nature. Ultimately, the article underscores the role of literary expression in shaping political consciousness and strengthening democratic values within parliamentary traditions.
