Abstract

The Gulshan-e-Raz-e-Jadeed is one of Allama Iqbal’s profound poetics works that reflects his intellectual depth, spiritual insight and philosophical mastery. This paper investigates Iqbal’s poetic technique and style in Gulshan-e-Raz Jadeed, highlighting the integration of classical Persian poetic tradition with modern philosophical discourse. The study analyzes how Iqbal employs the question-answer format to structure his verses, creating a dialogic framework that facilitates deeper reflection and cognitive engagement. His style combines symbolism, metaphor and powerful imagery to convey complex spiritual and philosophical ideas with clarity and eloquence. The paper further explores Iqbal’s diction, rhythm, and use of Persianised vocabulary in Urdu to create a distinct aesthetic resonance, while maintaining intellectual rigour. His poetic style in this work reflects his ability to synthesise Sufi mystical themes with modern Islamic revivalist thought, creating poetry that transcends time and culture. The research concludes that Iqbal’s poetic technique in Gulshan-e-Raz Jadeed is not merely aesthetic but a strategic intellectual tool to revive Islamic consciousness, selfhood, and critical awakening in his readers. This study contributes to understanding how Iqbal’s unique poetic style in Gulshan-e-Raz Jadeed enhances its philosophical depth, establishing it as a masterpiece in modern Islamic and Urdu literature.
