An Analytical Study of the Semantic Formation of the Soul–Body Dialogue in Novel "Rohzin" by Rahman Abbas

This study examines the semantic construction of the dialogue between soul and body in “Rohzin” by Rehman Abbas. The novel portrays characters whose inner selves are wounded by familial neglect, emotional deprivation, and social pressures, leading them to seek healing through physical intimacy. The protagonist, Israr, experiences early sexual exposure and navigates love, identity, and existential conflict within the culturally diverse setting of Mumbai.Through characters such as Muhammad Ali, Shanti, and Yusuf, the narrative reveals that sexuality is not merely a bodily act but a response to psychological trauma and fractured identities. The tragic culmination of Israr and Hina’s relationship symbolizes the failure of the body to fully compensate for the wounds of the soul. Thus, the novel presents the soul–body dialogue as a complex interplay of desire, trauma, and existential longing, where physical union ultimately intensifies inner fragmentation rather than resolving it.
