Existantionalism in Siddique Aalam’s Novel “Saleha Saleha”

Abstract

Urdu fiction, in a very small span of time, achieved milestone in terms of experiments of technique. From 1st novelist i.e. Deputy Nazir Ahmad to Munshi Prem Chand, novel succeeded to attract the attention of readers, although mostly written in simple narrat technique. But before ending 19th century Mirza Hadi Ruswa’s “Umrao Jan Adaa” published and became a trend setter, specially the psycho analysis of its central character. In true sense, western techniques of writing incorporated by Qurat-ul-Ain Haider in “Aag ka Darya”. The antemporary novelists like Intzar Hussain and Abdullah Hussain also strength their style from western writers. In 21st century, which is being called “Century of Novel” produced many artist, who really added beautiful piece of art. And one ot them is Siddique Alam.In his novel “Saleha Saleha” he used the modern western techniques to eleborate human tragedy in sub-continent. The story revolves round the central character of “Saleha”. This woman went trrough multiple accidents in her life from birth to mature age and at the end force to leave her home, homeland after losing husband, three younger sons.Novelist potray the reflection of a civilization with an artistic way. During reading, readers multiple senses work together and he experiences many shades of life. In this article efforts have been made to highlight the central theme of the story.
