Abstract

Communication has been a vital aspect of human history, with diverse forms of expression evolving over time. Radio, in particular, has played a pivotal role in shaping mass communication, governance, and cultural dissemination. This article explores the development of radio in the Indian subcontinent, highlighting its significance during the British Raj and post-partition era. The establishment of All India Radio and Radio Pakistan, facilitated by British entrepreneurs, enabled the broadcast of government news, propaganda, and cultural content in Urdu. Archival sound recordings from radio libraries offer valuable insights into historical research, revealing political and cultural nuances. This study examines the intersection of media, history, and culture, shedding light on the enduring impact of radio on South Asian civilization.
