Abstract

He is like the star that remains with the moon until the last hour of the night, until the morning light arrives. In Abbas Tabish’s ghazal, not only is there a mastery of language, but also a connection to tradition, as he tackles the same subjects that we now consider outdated. He has expressed them in such a beautiful way that his verses make you want to read them again and again. Abbas Tabish’s subjects include love, loyalty, and the country’s political situation. In addition, his ghazal’s subjects are very broad. We find a ray of hope in his work, a promise of loyalty, and a genie that fulfills dreams. At the same time, life sometimes appears as dark as a grave, sometimes the beloved’s eyes are like clear water in a lake, sometimes love becomes a leech, and sometimes it appears as life itself. With all these qualities, Abbas Tabish continues to illuminate Urdu ghazal with his poetry and knowledge.
